Manal CHERKI’S Art

Dancer-choreographer

Manal CHERKI’s interpretations, through her poetic dance, are characterized by the precision of her gestures. The artist has invented her own technique and choreographic language, based on the movements of the body and the mind. The latter are rhythmic, drawn and coordinated, according to a fluid and precise techniques.

Manal CHERKI creates original choreographies based on verbs of movement, such as letting go, walking, fleeing, flying or breathing. In her shows, she dances to spread Love, Peace, Joy and Freedom. She also works to fight against racism, violence and discrimination, recurring themes in her choreographic interpretations.

She practices without distinction Oriental Dance and Contemporary Dance, without forgetting spiritual and ecstatic dances. She is inspired by the famous dancers Martha GRAHAM and Josephine BAKER.

Singer-performer

Manal CHERKI is a singer who loves the stage. With her voice without artifice, she likes to take us to another world. Her objective is to transmit real emotions to her public, especially Love, Happiness, Hope and Joy. She sings for noble and humanistic causes and defends, in particular, the freedom of women.

For the militant artist, music is a unique experience that connects her deeply to her audience, in a symbiosis that no words can precisely describe. She evokes “a kind of osmosis in a space-time”, or “a parallel dimension that touches, by its wings, the perfection of a collective emotion”.

She goes from Soul to Jazz, passing by Blues, New Age and World Music. Her references are Lisa Gerard, Hans Zimmer, Whitney Houston or Shirley Bassey.

Artist painter

Manal CHERKI’s paintings combine softness and mystery. The artist creates artistic figures that symbolize noble values, recurrent in her work, communicating universal messages of Peace, Love, Solidarity and Freedom, using varied colors and complex figures, as well as subtle variations in tones and luminosity.

As when she sings or dances, she uses painting to overcome all kinds of suffering born of the pain caused by violence, sadness, racism and discrimination. Expert in the use of vibrant colors in her paintings, Manal CHERKI also spreads joy, optimism and hope.

She expresses herself indiscriminately through calligraphy, writing and painting, making reference in her works to symbolism, abstract art, figurative art, surrealism and native painting. A multidisciplinary artist, she is inspired by artists such as Michelangelo Di Lodovico, Leonardo da Vinci, Vincent Van Gogh and Edward Munch, whose techniques and drafts she has studied.
